Who we are?
Manara Network is a coalition of voluntary civil-society entities working on child rights across the Arab region. Its work is grounded in international human rights law, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), and the Arab Charter on the Rights of the Child. These frameworks ensure that all efforts advance the best interests and well-being of children. The Network aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise and knowledge, promote child-rights monitoring, and advocate for child protection across the Arab world. It also works to harmonize national child-related legislation with international standards, particularly the CRC. Manara provides a platform for child-rights advocacy at local, regional, and international levels, supporting the creation of an Arab society that protects and respects children’s rights.
The Benefits and Inconvenient of Joining the Network
The potential inconveniences of joining the network include a fear of losing a part of their sovereignty, confusion of responsibilities between the members, lack of clear accountability structures, and fear of bad leadership and domination of the more active members.
